had a busy couple of days this past week so got alot done, started working on combat, so atm blocking, attack rating & defence calcs are all recoded, will be redoing DEA & weapon block soon to fix these stats and allow weapon blocking for all item types and stats Smile also going through the pspell code to rewrite all of them and improve them(expect item reqs for them, and not just level, str and dex at that Razz). Also been working on player options to allow default /players x settings(which go up to 16 now, and have alot more effect), default /nopickup and changing of custom mod key bindings, which will all be stored neatly in the registry. also been working on a testing display for those who like to tweak chars to death. Also started working on recoding the standard GUI, improving it, adding more options and just generally cleaner(working on charstats screen & automap display atm )

Hehe, its a long process, but when done right its easier to add new ones, as you need to get the text & image drawing down, load and unload the resources, and then find a way to open and close it, retrieve the info to display on it and the if its going to have any buttons you need hook a click handler to parse the button commands, can be frustrating at times(drawing took me for ever to get to work correctly while avoiding memory leaks :s), but its all done now so you can expect some fancy GUI tricks, maybe a plugin for 1.10 users some time down the line...

there is no way you'd be able to do this with simple hex edits(or even complex ones, as there ain't enough space in the dlls[unless you use Myhrs code room]), you need to use an external library to do this.

began recoding d2s combat routines this weekend end, so expect alot of changes to the old combat system(on the surface it'll sorta be the same), also softcoded alot of item code(mainly display) and added a few new pspells and object FNs (i can now make scrolls that tele you to town instead of a portal, or any other place), also all portals are cross act capable Wink, also went through fixing other bugs etc. and finally got hold of vc++ 6 pro (Thanks Nef, i owe ya one Very Happy), with means better optims, which menas {filtered} now runs 50% faster Smile. also added the ability to take screenshots in png format(port of nefs code) and recoded some main menu code(expect in game and in menu mod options Wink, and some easter eggs for those crazy few WinkVery Happy

thanks Smile though the layout will change when i get the mouse overs and skill damage redone, which means some extra info on the first page(not really a problem as i've added plugys stats pages[plugy no longer works with this mod due to the almost 400 code patches....], but its better as it allows you to see the base, accrued and modifier values) also got round to entirely recoding the skill tree so expect some fun things there Wink also ripped out and replaced d2s used but forgotten arena code, so expect an arena or 2 and some fun mp 'modes'. Also just been improving the general efficiency of things so that lower end machines won't suffer too much. Finally i tracked down the source of blizzards staffmods crap, which means it'll be totally replaced, so expect some fun staffmods, like claw skills will have more chance to appear on claws, and some items will even get staffmods from multiple class and even monster/hireling skills Smile

Hi Necrolis,

Iīm a D2 LOD mod shearcher and player in my very short free time to play PC games. Your work is becoming really good and noticable! Laughing

I really hope U donīt give it up e I will keep on waiting for a first release! Do you have a preview for that?

Let me give some advise:

There are too many unfinished or dead mods in the main D2 LOD forums/sites... like a ship graveyard... some of them great... itīs sad.

D3 is comming: Donīt loose yourself in changes that U cannot implemment in the future!

A great FINISHED mod(bugs and features) can be played and revisited for 10 or 20 years from now...

...an unfinished (good) mod like TFW, THOC, underkill, EftA, or some others like Tsuruīs Eastern SUN - who had lost himself in endless changes and too complex game systems - they are junk now or will be in a near future... no one will want to play them any more.

I hope u are a visionary and u can finish the DAY of DEATH mod, as a good legacy for the next generations and old-school players, for the future days!

With good hopes and vibes!

The features in this mod are just plain dreamy. To be honest i wanted to start work on something similar, but this is FAR beyond what i had in mind.

I have a hard time understanding how you have managed to do something so all-encompassing, while still having time to reply to nearly every topic i've posted on the keep.

In any case, i really hope you keep up this amazing work you've done on DoD, and i would also like to be considered for your alpha testing, however you choose to filter that. Until you are up to alpha i will keep checking in to see what new things you have going on.
Wink
